I spent Saturday and Sunday at Pacific Raceways watching the Pacific Northwest Nationals. It’s a pretty impressive thing. I had not been to a top level NHRA event before.
Top Fuel dragsters and funny cars are serious business. Sitting behind the starting line allowed me the shocking experience of what 10,000+ hp looks like. It rattled my view of the world and made me unable to really see anything clearly for 4 seconds at a time. I’m still not sure if that’s more due to the heat distortion, or due to the immense vibration and pressure waves coming off of those cars.
The other classes were lots of fun to watch too. Here are some random photos I of stuff I liked.

There is nothing like a Top Fuel car launching. Everyone should experience it at least once.

I agree completely. You don’t have to be into drag racing to find it intersting, impressive, and worth while.
Some forms of racing are nearly as good on TV. Drag racing is a totally different thing in person.

Everyone should attend an NHRA event. They are good fun and the sights and sounds are unbelievable. The power from the Fuel cars will melt your brain.
My uncle was likely running this weekend. He has a blown dragster.
Also, that track will always be SIR (Seattle International Raceway) and the race will be the Northwest nationals to me. When I was little we could here the top fuel cars from our house!
